How Lee's fans shut down debate Patrick Ford 13 September 2016 Steve Ditko (THE COMICS, 2003): "One can't reach a mind unwilling to be reached. When closed with his faith, the dogma of a 'true believer' , that mind will always seek to evade, deny, rationalize, in order to protect it's comfortable, accepted dogma." Patrick Ford: You can see how pointed Ditko's comment is. It's as blunt and direct as could be. And there isn't any doubt about who he is speaking off. Ditko has written dozens of times about Lee and Lee's irrational supporters. And yet I've posted Ditko's quote on another group and instantly an advocate for Lee replied, "Yeah well there are true believers on both sides." It's pointless discussing these issues with fans of Lee. I've seen lots of people try and it's not only a waste of time it becomes a distraction. The thing to do is keep talking about the Kirby/Lee issues while avoiding arguments. The arguments are a real turn-off for anyone who might happen to be reading a thread. I'm convinced that is the goal of Lee's advocates. They don't want the discussion to happen. They want to shut the discussion down. One of the best ways to do that is trying to provoke an argument.
