That time when Kirby was given writing credit
Patrick Ford:
J David Spurlock: issue and date please [for the above image, used as a banner]
Patrick Ford: Kirby's script and story for "This is a Plot?" appeared
in FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #5 with a cover date of Nov. 1967.
That means it was probably on sale in August/Sept of 1967.
Patrick Ford: The only other script credit Kirby got at Marvel during
the '60s was on STRANGE TALES #148, "Death Before Dishonor" which has
a cover date of Sept. 1966.
Patrick Ford: There as a fandom "history" which claims that the Jan.
1966 interview published by the NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE represented a
break in the Lee-Kirby relationship. The "This is a Plot" story
undermines that claim as it is frequently cited by Lee's advocates
that Lee and Kirby were hunky-dory. I guess they don't realize the
contradiction there?
Lynn David Walker: Lee still got the final edit on this. I wonder how
much of the verbiage is truly Kirby's.
Patrick Ford: A lot of it does read like Kirby in my opinion.
Certainly this:
Patrick Ford: Daniel Greenberg, Roy Thomas has said that Lee didn't
even bother to read what Thomas wrote.
On the issue of DAREDEVIL where Wally Wood is the only credited writer
Wood says Lee told him that he would have to change everything and in
a DAREDEVIL LOC page comment by Lee. Lee wrote that by the time he was
finished rewriting Wood's script the only thing left was Wood's name.
Wood said that Lee had changed only a few words and his script
underwent fewer changes than what Wood was used to working for other
editors.

Even then Lee could not help himself when commenting on the story after Ted White mentioned Kirby has written it.
Dave Rawlins: We had both plotted that out....yeah, right! That's the ticket!
Patrick Ford: Let's be frank. The guy is a complete ass.
