Kirby's collages
Patrick Ford shared a photo.

Oh, yes! It's truly unfortunate that they ended up printed in black and white
in the books themselves, since that tended to blunt the impat they made. I
got to see the original to the full-page collage splash from the end of THOR
#132 (Ego!) at a convention this past November, and found it to be
stunning--light years more impressive than it had been in the printed omic.
Tom Brevoort
Patrick Ford: Ferran Delgado, Have you got a scan of the original art for this page? Notice Brevoort mentions having seen it. This post was from 1999.
Ferran Delgado: I'm afraid that I just have those...

Good God.
Aaron Noble: Whoa. Never saw that one before. Do you know who has it?
Ferran Delgado: It's to be auctioned in Heritage, so it'll change of hands very soon.
Patrick Ford: According to Tom Kraft this piece is owned by a dealer who purchased it from one of Kirby's daughters around 15-20 years ago.
Jim Van Heuklon: that is a lot of decoupage!!
Patrick Ford: Yeah. It's a very large piece.

Aaron Noble: Not loving the condescending period-piece sales pitch from Heritage, but I AM loving how the artist bio sums up his career without any mention of Stan Lee!
Patrick Ford: It's my understanding the dealer who owns this was asking 13k for it. Which seems dirt cheap when you consider stuff which is mediocre at best goes for a lot more just because it's got pictures of Batman on it.
Aaron Noble: Quality is not the overriding factor in the world of Original comic art sales! Even within the Kirby category, a Thor page absolutely mutilated by Vince Colletta is still worth more than a 2001 page inked as perfectly as humanly possible by Mike Royer.
