Ferran Delgado
14 October 2016
From Marvelmania #1 (1970)
Ferran Delgado Not bad, he spent two days and "half" to get paid for the complete writing job.
Patrick Ford: And that's taking him at his word.
Mark Ricard: At least this is not taken from someone else.
Mark Ricard: He was good at writing promotion. He would have been better in advertising than creative writing.
J David Spurlock:
1) meet with creator for 1 or 2 hours until they come up with a plot.
2) type up the plot that was arrived at.
3) creator draws & delivers 20-pg story based on their plot.
4) Inspired by the creators work, Stan edits/tweaks/writes final verbiage for publication. Plot+Dialogue+Writing.
MARVEL METHOD "ARTISTS" DESERVE CO-AUTHOR CREDIT
Patrick Ford: Again, that is taking Lee at his word.
Patrick Ford: BTW. Did Lee ever smoke? I am aware that around 1969 and for a bit after that part of Lee's image became the cigar smoker. However there are earlier accounts (including one involving Wally Wood) which say that Lee objected to smoking and didn't allow it in his office.
Patrick Ford: There is an issue of Kamandi (I think) where Steve Sherman described how long it took Kirby to plot, draw, and dialogue a story.
I'll see if I can find it.
