Marvel no longer tip toes around Lee

Remind you of anyone? I once sent a letter to The Jack Kirby Collector raising this issue. Needless to say, the letter never saw print.

Patrick Ford: It's somewhat understandable why John Morrow tip toes around the Stan Lee topic.
What disappoints me is the fact that every issue seems to contain at least a few grossly insulting remarks leveled at Jack Kirby.
Patrick Ford: Since the lawsuit Marvel filed against the Kirby family was settled there have been indications from Marvel that Lee is no longer off limits. This includes multiple articles and videos produced by Marvel which credit Kirby as the creator of characters while not mentioning Lee at all.
That suggests to me that the corporate management no longer care about what anyone thinks of Lee. As a matter of fact since Lee was fired by Marvel in 1998 and then later sued Marvel it is my guess that Lee might well be viewed with some malice.
So what is the problem? I'd go with Roy Thomas and Lee's fan base.
I don't think there is any danger Marvel will suddenly tell Twomorrows the company must desist from using Marvel copyrighted material in Twomorrows publications.
I do think that Roy Thomas would go absolutely ballistic as would Lee's fans, if Twomorrows began allowing more than good natured joshing of Stan Lee.
Michael Hill: Jon Cooke and John Morrow are reluctant to hear criticism of Thomas (despite Cooke's diplomatic retort to Thomas's monstrous CBC letter about Cooke's Kirby article) so maybe I'll start reading AE and address my concerns about Thomas as an historian directly to the editor.
