I pull the ever back... and time begins to go in reverse!

The room around me becomes newer. I see the room decorated in reverse! I push the lever a little farther! I must be several years back, approaching my childhood now!

Should I stop and pull the lever forward again, into the future? Or should I push it all the way forward and go much further? Or do something else, like stop now and explore my childhood, maybe meet myself? Or go further back? And how far?
