Was it a mistake? What if somebody finds out and takes it? But I think I can trust him. I notice that one of the nickel control rods is one inch too short. It should still work, but I can't be sure: the machine still hasn't been tested.

Should I go out and order a new part? Or stay in and finish it with what I have? Or do something else?
